Prague Visitor Pass: price, inclusions and how it compares to the CoolPass

The Prague Visitor Pass is the only official city card, issued by Prague City Tourism. It combines free entry or discounts at more than 70 monuments, museums and galleries with unlimited use of Prague public transport – metro, tram and bus.

Inclusions cover Prague Castle, a guided city tour and a Vltava river cruise, among others. The pass is sold for a fixed number of days and activated digitally by QR code; validity starts at the first scan, not at purchase.

The CoolPass covers a similarly large attraction list but comes in more duration tiers, up to six days. On a longer stay with a packed itinerary it can work out cheaper per day.

The key difference is transport: the official Visitor Pass includes it, while with the CoolPass you need to check whether your tier covers rides or whether you need a separate DPP ticket. Add that cost before comparing headline pass prices.

Also compare the attractions you will genuinely visit. Both passes advertise 70+ entries, but many are smaller museums that rarely make it onto a short city break.

List the three to five attractions you will definitely visit and add up their single-ticket prices using the comparison on this page. If that total plus transport is below the pass price, buy single tickets.

On a one- or two-day trip a pass rarely pays off – there simply is not time for enough paid entries. From roughly three museum- and castle-heavy days it usually tips the other way.

Watch the opening days: many Prague museums close one weekday, and Prague Castle runs separate winter and summer hours. A pass day spent on a closed site is money lost.

Prague's accommodation tax is billed by your hotel and is not part of any pass. Day trips to Kutná Hora, Karlovy Vary or Bohemian Switzerland are separate bookings too.

Timed-entry reservations are not automatic either: at high-demand sites you still need to book a slot in advance, pass or not.
